Leader in the production of Tilapia which traceability is known in Madagascar, “Tilapia de l’Est” is the only organization that operating within the entire tilapia value chain from fingerlings production to grow-up until the commercialization.

It is a Cooperative union created in October 2014

It is a fruit of the “Producer Steered Fish Farming Project”, collaboration between the ONG Midem and Norgesvel.

 Tilapia de l’Est aims at:

• Developing a sustainable income-generating activity for farmers in the  Atsinanana Region;
• Increasing the protein intake of the population in the Atsinanana Region ;
• Contributing to rural development and the sustainable management of the aquatic resources which is continuously decreasing.

Tilapia de l’Est gathers a big part of  the fish farmers in the Atsinanana region,its has currently six (6) cooperative members:
Two in the north of Tamatave:

Four in the south along the RN2 (National Road N°2), from Tananambo to Brickaville:

• TSIMIVAHA Cooperative
• KOFIAMIT Cooperative
• VITASOA Cooperative
• VONONA Cooperative
